Uru Rangi / Riwai Ngapaki & Tuatara Mokena Scholarship

As Trustee for the Whānau Family Trust, Dr Matua Jansen is generously supporting our scholarship programme on behalf of his ancestors Riwai Ngapaki and Tuatara Mokena.

Award

  1. For study at post graduate level.
  2. Applicants must show how their programme of study/research contributes to the business objectives or social deliverables of Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust.
  3. There is an expectation that the recipient will contribute to Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust during the term of their scholarship.
  4. The number and value of scholarships awarded will be at the discretion of the Education komiti.

Eligibility

  1. Be a registered member of Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust.
  2. Be enrolled at a recognised tertiary institute or training provider.
  3. Be a resident of New Zealand and have a current New Zealand bank account.
  4. Provide confirmation of enrolment.
  5. Achieved a ‘C’ grade average for taught awards, or confirmation of re-enrolment for a research award.
  6. Successful applicants must sign and return a funding agreement.
  7. Award paid out annually, 50% upon provision of official academic record indicating successful completion of semester 1, and the balance on provision of official academic record indicating successful completion of semester 2. (If studies are not completed within the year, and studies are at Masters level, then confirmation from the supervisor will suffice).

Other Requirements

  1. Applicants are required to describe their involvement in Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust kaupapa over the past 12 months and explain how the Trust can balance its economic, social and cultural objectives. The quality of these responses and the above criteria will determine how this scholarship is awarded. Refer to Te Pae Mahutonga for more details.
  2. Applicants studying towards S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and business related programmes of study/research will be given preference in consideration of this award.
  3. Postgraduate study must be equivalent to NZQA Level 8 or higher.
  4. Have not previously been awarded this scholarship.
