Manawaroa

Manawaroa

Respect - Culture - Whakapapa. These are just some of the concepts you’ll learn and experience over the weekend when you attend Manawaroa.

About Manawaroa

Our wānanga is marae-based and includes excursions into the Abel Tasman National Park by water and a bike ride to explore sites of significance to the Trust, in the Motueka area and hear the kōrero of our families.

The wānanga includes whakapapa workshop, Whakarewa and traditional history and waiata.

When we asked what skills, knowledge or attitudes had changed for participants who attended our very first wananga one said they learnt new waiata, became more aware of the sites of significance in the Motueka rohe, and leant about important core values such as relationships, responsibility, reciprocity, redistribution, respect.
